The area, that now forms Bageshwar district, was historically known as Danpur, and was ruled by Katyuris during the 7th century AD. {{keyword}} After the disintegration of the Katyuri kingdom in the 13th century, the area remained under the rule of Baijnath Katyurs, direct descendants of Katyuri kings.

    1st Day | First Half

    Place we cover: Bagnath Temple

    Lord Shiva blessed sage Markandeya by visiting here in the form of a Tiger. Though some sources state The existence of Bagnath temple since 7th Century, the present building in nagara style was built in 1450 by Chand ruler, Laxmi Chand. The various statues in the temple date back from 7th century AD to 16th century AD.

    The Kausani Tea Estate is idyllically situated on Bageshwar road and is perched at an elevation of 1,800 metres above sea level. It is located at a favourable distance of 5 km from the main town. \

    Place we cover: Lakshmi Ashram,

    Lakshmi Ashram was established in 1946 by the London born disciple of Mahatma Gandhi, Sarala Behn, to provide education for rural girls along the holistic ideals of Basic Education or Nai Talim, as developed by Gandhiji. At present there are some fifty students from Class I to Class XII in the ashram.

    Place we cover: Gauri Udiyar Pindari Glacier

    In the beauteous Kumaon division of Uttarakhand, there is an infamous cave temple called Gauri Udiyar. It is located about 8 km from Bageshwar town and houses several idols of Lord Shiva. In Kumaoni dialect, 'Udiyar' stands for a small rock cave, where tigers and other wild animals live. The Pindari Glacier is a glacier found in the upper reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, to the southeast of Nanda Devi and Nanda Kot.
